Facebook gains a scalp as AOL announces plans to Shutter Bebo

Bebo, we hardly knew ye. Well, I hardly did. Bebo had a strong UK and Aussie following at the time of its sale to AOL for $850 million, but AOL wanted to use the social network to crack the US market. They failed to do so even with their strong messaging client aim and AOL execs announced plans to seek a buyer or close the site by the end of May.

Women’s Day on the Web: Yahoo! gets a doodle; Huffpo gets Madonna

The 99th, 100th, or 101st International Women’s Day (depending on your math), was quiet on the web and avoided Twitter trending. However, Yahoo! jumped in where Google faltered with their own special logo and page celebrating women.

YOU In?  Yahoo tries to pay it forward

Yahoo! recently launched a feel good side called YOU In? The site asks users to briefly describe your feel good deed in a Yahoo status message which is plotted on a map with the idea that your action will spurn others to join the movement. Sounds good, but is the tool actually going to make a change?
