Action Aid send bloggers to the slums of Bangladesh

Two “outreach bloggers” were selected via a competition process among Australian bloggers, the winners Joel Katz and Sharna Bremner will be heading out to Bangladesh to work directly with people living in the slums in Dhaka, both blogging about their personal experience as well as setting up facilities and training community members on how to use social media, audio, video and blogging to share their stories.

Why I’m making my end of year donation to Global Voices, and supporting not-for-profit journalism

(Climate Change) How it All Ends

Let’s say you agree with the conspiracy theorists and think that scientists have been making up environmental data for years to scare the public into action. We’re going to cast aside the fact that thousands of scientists agree that climate change is a man made issue and work on the premise that it could be a hoax. Even if on the small chance it’s fake, it is still more practical to do something about the environment today.

Use your blog to bring urgent change to Congo

A counterproductive strategy in Congo is costing more lives than it is saving. We need bloggers to help explain this complex situation to a public that would act, if they knew what was happening.

For every rebel combatant disarmed:

  • 1 Congolese civilian has been killed
  • 7 women and girls raped
  • 6 houses burned and destroyed
  • 1,000 people forced to flee their homes.
