Australia mashes up their Prime Minister

4 December 2009 View Comments

Kevin Rudd, Australia's PM gets mashed up. Oxfam Australia, has taken a quintessentially Australian approach to their climate campaign, humour.

By cutting up previous speeches made by the Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, they have developed a tool that enables you to make your own  version of his climate change speech and then share it amongst your friends.

Interesting to see how this is taken up by their supporters, as it requires a bit more time than filling in an online petition, and what impact it has on the Australian Government’s climate position at the UN Climate Change Talks in Copenhagen, next week.

Tell us what you think. Do you see this type of campaign action catching on, or making an right impression on the intended targets?

I was looking forward to the mashup but it ended up being not as fun as I had hoped. Maybe it's because I'm not really well versed with Rudd humor though.

They seem to have all of the social networking elements covered; sharing, voting, virality, but something just seems off. Maybe it's because it feels like they were trying to be viral? Not sure what it is exactly will need to think more about it.
