Nominate the Voice Project for Mashable Open Web Awards

MashableMashableMashable have recently opened their 3rd annual Open Web Awards and have almost doubled the award categories from 2008’s 26 to this year’s 50.

It will be interesting to see if the increase in categories results in an increase in nominations.  The 2008 awards  saw  50,000 total nominations, 80,000 votes in the first round, and 90,000 votes in the final round.

Cleverly the nomination proccess is being done through a Twitter API and Facebook Connect APP, that means that you can only nominate once daily via your accounts, but also enables some smart social networking promoting of the awards themeselves. Maybe someone will nominate the awards for their own awards.

Who did I nominate you ask? Well I gave   http://www.twitter.com/Voiceteam for Best Non-Profit Use of Social Media. It’s a project that has brought bloggers (and their audiences)  into big global political moments such as the G20 in London and Pittsburgh, the UN Climate Day, new York Climate Week and more this year. Disclosure alert, I am involved in the @VoiceTeam project.

With another 49 options that cover everything from Funniest Person to Follow to Best Social Media Gadget, I’m sure I will be nominating a few more times before the November 4th deadline, where the top 5 nominees of each category go forward to voting round on November 18.

Get voting.

  • That's a lot of votes. Great to see people so involved in this.
